SMAP「世界に一つだけの花」 歌詞に再び議論
200万枚以上の売り上げを記録したSMAPの大ヒット曲「世界に一つだけの花」が、2003年3月5日に発売されてから10年が経った。いまだに人気は衰えず、カラオケなどで親しまれているほか、音楽の教科書にも採用されている。
これだけの人気とあって、歌詞の内容について度々批評されてきた。発売10年を機に、再び議論が巻き起こりそうだ。
「聖域なき構造改革に違和感持つ人々の胸に落ちた」
13年4月9日付の西日本新聞に、福岡市の小学校の卒業式で校長が「一番伝えたいこと」として、「みんなは世界に一人しかいない特別な存在。オンリーワンを目指し、胸を張って生きていってほしい」と、「世界に一つだけの花」の内容を意識した式辞を卒業生に送ったという記事が掲載された。
東京新聞でも、13年4月3日付の朝刊で「『世界に一つ…』10年 個性尊重の光と影 競争背景 寛容さ共感」という記事を掲載した。
「世界に一つだけの花」が愛された理由について、音楽評論家・湯川れい子氏の
「戦後の競争社会の中で、自分の存在意義を見つけられないで苦しむ人々がたくさん出た。年間に三万人もが自殺するような社会の圧迫感の中で、『オンリーワン』を大切にしたいという思いがあった」。
教育評論家・尾木直樹氏の「(小泉政権の)聖域なき構造改革がもたらしたのは、弱者を切り捨てる成果主義。競争社会が加速した時代だったからこそ、違和感を持つ人々の胸にすとんと落ちた」、弁護士・伊藤真氏の「自分の憲法の講義では、最も大切な一三条の『個人の尊重』から始めている。そのときにこの歌を例示している」というコメントを紹介している。
一方で評論家の岸本裕紀子氏は、「若者の向上心のなさや現実逃避と結び付け、批判的な解釈が生まれることになった」とマイナス面を指摘している。
槇原敬之「競う相手は他人ではなく自分自身」と真意説明
これらの記事はインターネット上での議論を巻き起こした。2ちゃんねるには「『世界に一つだけの花』が日本をダメにした 左翼『この歌は反自民のシンボル、憲法の精神だ』」という過激なタイトルのスレッドが立てられ、「No1になるより自称オンリー1って逃げ道を作る事を容認してるよな」「できない奴に、『人と同じように出来なくても、君はこの世で一人、オンリーワンな存在だよ』とか曲解し、甘やかしたのが日本衰退の原因」などの批判。
「この歌の曲解ぶりは本当に酷かったな むしろ個性を大事にって歌詞なのに・・・」「この世の中、なんだかんだでナンバーワンじゃない奴、なれない奴が圧倒的に多数なんだからそういう奴らの応援歌としてこういう歌があってもいいとは思う」など肯定的な意見が書き込まれ、盛り上がっている。
ツイッターでも、「この歌は努力するものを馬鹿にしている。日々の努力なしにオリジナリティは確立されない」「どうしても、この共産主義賛歌を好きになれない」「なんで素直に曲を楽しめないん?」「歌詞やらを都合よく解釈して反自民だ、護憲だとするのが間違い」など様々な意見がツイートされている。
「世界に一つだけの花」についての論争は以前から繰り広げられてきた。発売直後、イラク戦争開戦直前の03年3月7日に「NEWS23」(TBS系)で故筑紫哲也氏が
「これは反戦歌だと思う」と語った上、曲のCMで「もし、世界中のすべての人が、ありのままの自分を好きになれたら、戦争なんてなくなると思う」というメッセージが流れていたことに対し、「社会主義的」「戦争便乗商売」などと批判された。
その後も、平等をよしとする教育現場で育った「ゆとり世代」は、努力や苦労、挫折を知らず、この曲が「それでもいいんだ」と助長している、という指摘もあった。
こうした解釈に対し、作者の槇原敬之さんは
12年4月7日付の朝日新聞で「自分に植えられている種を真剣に見つめて、きちんと水をやろう。そうすればその種が相手にもあることに気付くはず。競う相手は他人ではなく自分自身だ」と歌詞の真意を説明するなど、この歌を巡ってさまざまな解釈、論争が起きている。
